Machias Savings Bank Named One of the 2009 Best Places to Work in Maine

For a second year in a row, Machias Savings Bank was  named as one of the 2009 Best Places to Work in Maine.  

This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses.  The 2009 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 24 companies in the small/medium-sized list (15-249 employees) and 7 companies in the large-sized list (250+ employees).

One crucial step in the application process is a questionnaire employees complete regarding their employer; the second step is a benefits questionnaire completed by the employer.

 Machias Savings Bank has been creating lasting relationships throughout Maine since 1869 and is a community bank with a devoted staff of 220 employees. They have a valued interest and sound commitment to the economic development of the areas they serve. 

Currently, Machias Savings Bank consists of thirteen locations in five counties;  Washington, Hancock, Aroostook, Penobscot and Knox, with the home office located in Machias.  Edward Hennessey, President of Machias Savings Bank states, “Our consistent rate of growth is not directly related to any one product we offer, but rather the customer service we strive to provide; our customer service remains our most important focus.”

Machias Savings Bank will be recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Maine awards ceremony on October 13^th and will be profiled in a special publication by Mainebiz.  The final rankings will be announced at the event.
